OUR FOCUS

Our members are committed  to implementing the “Core 4” areas of focus in order to change the narrative of how men of color show up for our community and our families.

Community

The Quad 4 Men’s Health community provides a safe place for African American men to talk about things that would otherwise go unspoken and unheard. Our primary goal is to promote a level of vigilance and awareness that leads to meaningful interactions where the topic of our physical and mental wellbeing is woven into the fabric of every conversation we have with one another.

Accountability

Research shows that publicly shared goals, have around a 65% chance of success. However, having a specific accountability partner boosts that chance to 95%. The “Accountability Quad” is essential to the success of our community. Each quad member is responsible for and accountable to each other regarding scheduling, attending, and follow-up on regular health screenings.

Movement / Exercise

Exercise is a powerful tool for maintaining muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness, mind-body coordination, and stress relief. While we are all at risk for developing numerous chronic diseases as we age, studies show that African-Americans who practice moderate to vigorous physical activity significantly decrease the likelihood of developing chronic diseases earlier in life.

Education / Resources

We believe that it is imperative that we educate our community on the importance of exercise, nutrition, health screenings, and preventative care. Our app, online portal and social media platforms will evolve into a robust collection of resources where our community can educate themselves, find medical resources, support groups, fitness groups, and get free medical services.

OUTCOMES

Realizing measurable outcome is very important to our community. The following are areas that we expect to be positively impacted as a result of  committing to, and implementing our “Core 4” areas of focus.

  • Increase in the number of men who place their physical and mental health high on the list of priorities in their lives.
  • Increase in regular doctor visits and screenings by men of color resulting in a  higher rate of early detection
  • Healthier nutrition and exercise habits within our community
  • Increase in the number of health services available to  those who do not have the financial means
  • Increased participation as blood, tissue  and organ donors amongst men of color
  • Provide ongoing information, education, resources, and support groups for those who are faced with mental and physical health challenges
